Wang Tao, Ph.D., Research Professor, School of Computer Science, Peking University, Director of Affective and Cognitive Intelligent Robot Laboratory, Director of Industry-University-Research Cooperation Office, School of Computer Science, Peking University, Secretary General of Beijing Computer Society (and Director of the Professional Committee of Affective Computing for Robots), Member of the Editorial Board of International Journal of Crowd Science (IJCS).
Wang Tao received his bachelor's degree and doctor's degree from Peking University in 1999 and 2006 respectively. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Tsinghua University-Intel Joint Postdoctoral Workstation from 2006 to 2008, and then as a senior researcher at Intel Corporation. He was recruited by Peking University in November 2010. From December 2010 to August 2016, he served as Executive Deputy Director of High Energy Efficiency Computing and Application Center of Peking University; from May 2018 to August 2023, he served as Deputy Director of Advanced Research Institute of Information Technology of Peking University in Zhejiang Province; in 2019, he was appointed as Special Expert of Qianjiang City of Hangzhou. He was the leader of the talent training group of the Green Computing Industry Alliance, "Frontiers of Computer. Social professional service positions include Deputy editor of Science, Editorial Committee member of China Computer Society Communication, Academic Committee member of China Computer Society Youth Computer Science and Technology Forum (YOCSEF), and Award committee member of China Computer Society Science and Technology Award.
Wang Tao is engaged in the research of computer system structure, affective and cognitive computing, intelligent robot systems, system modeling and inference. He successfully developed the high-performance programmable wireless network underlying architecture and software and hardware algorithm open platform, which was in the leading position in the world at that time, and was used by Peking University, Tsinghua University, National University of Defense Technology, University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and Ohio State University (OSU) and other institutions. The proposed affective and cognitive computing algorithm set has the ability of emotion recognition, attention analysis, heart rate monitoring, natural understanding, information analysis, environment perception, etc. The entity intelligent robot developed by the institute can complete a number of tasks such as emotional communication, piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, welcome guests and tour, and has represented Peking University in the exhibition for many times.
Wang Tao has presided over more than 10 national, provincial and ministerial level and important horizontal projects. He has won 4 provincial and ministerial awards such as the first prize of Natural Science of the Ministry of Education and the first prize of Beijing Higher Education Teaching achievements, and has been authorized more than 20 patents. Published more than 80 academic papers (including top international conferences/journals AAAI, MULTIMEDIA, IROS, ISCA, MICRO, MobiCom, IEEE TC, IEEE TMC, etc.), One paper won the Best Academic Community paper award in MobiCom '17, the top international academic conference ranked first in the field of mobile computing and wireless networks, and several papers won the best paper award in international academic conferences.
Wang Tao is currently teaching the undergraduate course "Introduction to Intelligent Robot Systems" at Peking University. He has offered undergraduate courses such as "Introduction to Emotional Intelligent Robots", "Introduction to Intelligent Robots", "Operating System A (Experimental Class) (taught in English)", and "Basis of Reconfigurable Systems".
